qr code application for transport (qcat) standards

  • QCAT Standard is a set of specification and documents, defining a QR code-based ticketing system for automated fare collection in public transport
  • Mainly about the QR code specification that defines the content and format of the QR code payload of the ticket
  •  Organizations can participate in these standards as follows:
    • QCAT Ticket Issuer - An entity who enters into a contract with a potential or current passenger, issues QCAT tickets to the passenger, collects the ticket price from the passenger and settles the ticket price with the QCAT Ticket Acceptor.
    • QCAT Ticket Acceptor - An entity who operates a system that is capable of validating tickets and that settles the ticket price with the respective Transport Operator and the QCAT Ticket Issuer.
    • Public Transport Operator - An entity offering person transport services to the public (including defined groups such as residence of a housing estate or an industrial park)

beep™ scheme

  • A set of specifications & documents that allows participants to interface with the beep™ card using their existing systems – either by manufacturing beep™ cards, accepting beep™ payments, or loading beep™ cards
  • Entities may participate in the beep™ Scheme through the following roles:      
    • Media Supplier – card manufacturing entities can get certified to produce beep™ cards or other form factors on behalf of AFPI
    • Acquirer – payment processors can allow beep™ cards to be accepted as a form of payment in their system
    • Load Provider – load processors can allow the loading of beep™ cards through the use of their system
    • Load Funding Provider – participants that fund the loading of beep™ cards through a pending load request
